The hospital staff pharmacist is responsible for verifying and dispensing medication orders for oral and parenteral drug products; with an emphasis on chemotherapy. Assists with monitoring of patient drug therapy and providing drug information to physician and other staff. Responsible for supervising technician staff as it relates to chemotherapy admixing, unit dose drug preparation, and TPN compounding. Provides information related to medication ordering and documentation in a hospital utilizing all digital technology.
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy (RPh or Pharm D)
- License in good standing as issued by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy
- Minimum of 2 years institutional pharmacy experience
- Strong background or interest in oncology pharmacy preferred
- Experience with electronic medical records and/or hospital computer systems preferred
- Familiar with pharmacy technology including PYXIS automated dispensing machines, TALYST inventory management and BAXA TPN compounders
- Experience with clinical pharmacy protocols and initiatives preferred.
- Critical thinking and confidence in decision-making abilities are required.
- Strong communication skills necessary.
