Job Description:

The Finance Director is a strategic leader working closely with executives, department leaders and clinical leadership at CTCA Phoenix (collectively the Comprehensive Cancer and Research Center, Phoenix and regional Outpatient Care Centers) to develop appropriate business cases and analyses to help make informed investments, strategic and operating decisions to ensure company financial goals are achieved.

  • Provide financial and business decision support for CTCA Phoenix.
  • Provide overall financial reporting and analytic responsibility for CTCA Phoenix.
  • Drive continuous improvement in business analytics, continuously improving the accuracy of the data and tackle analytical challenges.
  • Deliver all site financial analytics including:  Revenue, Pricing (both pharma and non-pharma), Retention, Reimbursement, Cost, Margin, Service Utilization, Quality, Operations Financial Support, Monthly Variance Analysis Explanations, Management and Board Reporting, Budget, Forecast and Business Development Proformas working in conjunction with site subject matter experts. 
  • Analyze operations of CTCA Phoenix business units regarding re-engineering, pricing, profitability, and compliance related issues.
  • Work closely with the corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and regional Finance teams to enhance current reporting capabilities.
  • Contribute to the advancement data warehousing and business intelligence initiative. Assume leadership or co-leadership of enterprise-wide projects such as the implementation of new systems, Pro-Formas and Reimbursement


Budget and Forecasting

  • Lead CTCA Phoenix annual budget process. Drive the enterprise-wide budgeting and forecasting methodology in conjunction with the corporate finance team and local leadership. With the team, updates and maintains the EPSI database, instruct site leaders on budget processes/procedures, and prepare financial statements in relation to budget preparation. Identify opportunities to improve current processes and implement short/long-term forecasting tools.  Work with leadership throughout the year to develop robust budget variance reporting tools and indicators of trend and opportunity.

Enterprise Initiatives

  • Partner with the Corporate Finance Team in enterprise initiatives including but not limited to: pricing analysis, third party payers contract negotiations and other ad hoc analysis. Represent the site in all enterprise initiatives working along with designated program champions. Ensure requisite data is provided in a responsive manner that data integrity is optimized. Where appropriate, maintain the benchmarking database to ensure accurate and comparatives results and quality assurance.

Data Integrity

  • With the team, perform various reconciliations as directed to ensure that automated data pulls continue to balance to their source systems.  This could include Lawson reconciliations for revenue, expenses, and statistics; AMPFM reconciliation for transaction detail; and possibly ADP reconciliation for payroll data.  Identify reconciliation issues, and if necessary, assist in the development of solutions to identified issues.  Develop and provide crosswalks for data from multiple systems to assure reliable, consistent data regardless of the source.   . Bring forward opportunities for improvement and efficiency throughout the site based on analytical review of trends, indicators, and operational drivers.  Oversees the Capital Investment Requisition process, including calculating ROI on identified equipment.

Financial Reporting

  • Develop new and standardized metrics for the enhancement of financial analyses around the enterprise. Explore and implement reporting capabilities within QlikSense and/or Tableau. With the team, create and distribute reports within QlikSense, EPSI, Lawson, and AMPFM for use around the organization - including training of managers on the use of these tools. These reports may include revenue by disease, reimbursement by payor, CPT utilization, bundled pricing performance, cost accounting and pricing analyses.

System & Data Maintenance

  • Help develop and maintain the various data elements in EPSi that are needed to keep CTCA’s budgeting, cost accounting and PLA updated and relevant.  Work with individual department heads to develop Relative Value Units, and train them as end-users of EPSi so that they can get reports and dashboards that deliver meaningful information to them.  Also, work with the other sites and enterprise finance to assure stats are effectively managing the intended impact and maintain facility-wide overhead allocation statistics such as square footage studies, productive hours, etc. in accordance with corporate cost accounting standards.



  • 5 years of progressive finance management experience in a hospital, manufacturing or similar environment;
  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Business Analytics or related field required
  • Proficiency in Excel


  • Minimum of 2 years in an executive level role or senior finance role
  • Advanced Degree (e.g. Master’s Degree) in Finance, Healthcare, Business, or related field
  • Working knowledge of Qlikview, EPSI and/or Tableau
