This individual must be able to operate all routine radiographic equipment in a safe and proficient manner. They must maintain their ‘in-compliance’ registry status as set forth by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (R). They must abide by and enforce all compliance requirements and policies and perform these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values. This position requires initiative, the ability to make independent judgments and a positive attitude. The candidate must be able to produce high quality radiographs with a minimum of repeats. Must be able to handle multiple room assignments and all different types of exams on a daily basis. Must be able to communicate with physicians, patients, families, and ancillary hospital personnel. Will participate in performance improvement initiatives. Will assist with other activities as deemed necessary for the day-to-day operation of the department (i.e. clerical duties, inventory, stocking, light housekeeping duties, etc.). May participate in the training and orientation of other employees. Position may require cross training in additional modalities.
Selects proper technical factors for quality imaging studies. Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis. Provides patient care with compassion. Operates equipment proficiently.
Authenticates all physician orders prior to exam. Maintains accurate records of exams performed. Documents patient exam information in the Radiology Information System, specifically indicating additional charges. Provides patient care with compassion. Facilitates procurement of necessary forms, consents and documentation to comply with hospital standards and obtains required signatures. Obtains required signatures, consents, and releases.
Is responsible for procurement, storage, and routing of supplies and for room preparation. May recommend at time the procurement and necessity for maintenance of equipment.
Pursues advancing medical education through personal study (i.e. journal article review, formal education, conferences, etc.).
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent
Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved school
Licensure: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiography, ARRT (R)
Registered by the Medical Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (MRTBE) in Radiography
Certification: Basic Life Support (CPR)
