Job Description:

Under the strategic direction of the Assistant Vice President of Payer Analytics, the Manager of Payer Analytics will drive payer contracting strategy by leading in-depth contract analytic design, execution, and interpretation. This includes designing and interpreting standard reporting as well as conducting ad-hoc drilldowns for specific business issues.  This position will lead and work with a team of analysts and business leaders to design, build, and interpret information, including working with a technical team to design self-service real-time dashboards for executives to monitor contract performance.  It will also lead contract-specific analytics and drilldowns to drive strategy. Additional tasks include the development and maintenance of vendor relationships, presenting analytic findings to leadership, and functioning as the liaison among business partners, operational areas, and the departments within Enterprise Analytics.

Job Responsibilities

  • 30% Strategy and Insights:  Work with payer relations team on analytic design and interpretation.  Deliver and present analytics and interpretation to business leaders in a digestible format.  Provide thought leadership on new analytics to support payer reimbursement and performance. Proactively take steps towards automation or use of new technology. Provide thoughtful perspective in meetings with senior leadership. Research and provide insights to the business on potential new tools for contract modeling and maintenance. Understand Medicare and commercial reimbursement, policies, and regulatory requirements and apply to contract modeling, insights, and new ideas.
  • ?20%| Leadership and Management: Manage staff setting annual goals, talent development, and driving innovation and efficiency in the pursuit of better service to our customers.  Mentor and manage team of analysts of variable skill and practice levels. Prioritize teamwork, manage customer expectations and relationships, and maintain alignment of deliverables with organization analytic needs. Manage relations with related consultants and vendors.  Serve as a department leader, contributing to strategic decision-making with senior executives and colleagues in other departments.
  • 30%| Contract Maintenance: Ownership of contract loads, updates, and maintenance. Develop and maintain workflows and management processes to ensure there are no errors in contract modeling or loading.  Lead and develop the approach to model the effect of new fee schedules on revenue and percentage of Medicare.   Identify, interpret, and make recommendations regarding unclear contract or proposed contract terms Coordinate with stakeholders as the lead for payer contract governance to define requirements and use cases to support business needs, enhancements, and improve data quality and more.
  • 30%| Analytic Support: For both payer contract negotiations and monitoring, discuss business needs with customer and influence the design of an analysis; execute based on jointly designed specificationsAnalyze data to independently generate business insights and roll up data into a digestible format.   Ability to use data extract and BI tools such as SQL, Qlik, and MicroStrategy.  Efficiently merge data from multiple databases and find efficient ways to complete regular reporting.

Skills, Education and Additional Information ?

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare, Computer Science or related field.  Master’s degree in Business Administration or comparable field of study preferred.
  • 5 or more years’ experience in a managed care/healthcare environment with exposure to contract management and program development.
  • Technical ability in ETL and visualization tools such as Tableau, SQL, Qlik, and MicroStrategy
  • Knowledge of claims processing systems and guidelines.
  • Experience with reimbursement methodologies for Medicare and commercial insurance; and regulatory requirements concerning payer contracts.
  • Previous management expertise including project management and the ability to multi-task and manage multiple initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills including the ability to translate information to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, coach, lead and mentor team members and inter-disciplinary initiatives.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt in order to achieve initiative and organizational goals.
