Job Summary/Purpose:

The Manager of Quality Assurance will lead a team focused on the quality assurance needs of the Information Services Department at CTCA. The role will oversee and contribute directly to the work necessary for requirement analysis and test case creation as well as do black box testing. Testing processes must follow a documented and consistent methodology for both manual and automated testing.  Role will lead a group of quality assurance engineers and analysts who test, evaluate, and validate technology initiatives and identify issues in applications or services. Attention to detail, strong execution focus and follow-through are important components of this position. This role must set an example of someone that is organized and thorough in their approach to manual and automated testing.

Experience performing QA within a structured environment is necessary with a deep understanding of QA methodologies and principles.

In this position, the manager will be responsible for coordinating QA resources from three sources: CTCA Stakeholders, ICMC Stakeholders (CTCA affiliate) and external contractors.  This requires strong organization skills and the need for the QA Manager to develop successful inter-department and intra-department relationships to ensure all of these components stay aligned around the delivery of quality technology solutions to the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Define, document, and improve Quality Assurance testing plans standards, tools, procedures, and guidelines while considering manual testing, automated testing, and framework-based testing option.
  • Identify appropriate test strategies, test environment requirements and activities based on application-specific technical and functional characteristics. Implement QA industry standards/best practices with defined benchmarks and measures.
  • Identify and implement QA tools to reduce dependence on product specialized knowledge.
  • Establish standards for reporting and tracking of defects and their resolution.

  • Identify and implement QA tools to reduce dependence on product specialized knowledge.
  • Establish standards for reporting and tracking of defects and their resolution.
  • Work closely with management to articulate QA results so that decisions can be made based on quantifiable QA test data and the potential risks from elements like test holes, labs or boundary conditions
  • Function as an organizational advocate that is responsible for project investments to be delivered to the organization with strong quality results.  Establish herself/himself as a business partner with the Growth (marketing), Medicine and Science, hospital operations, enterprise operations and payor access teams.  Must demonstrate the ability to fit right in with different personalities, while getting things accomplished to deliver a product that has been effectively tested.
  • Operate assertively and as a team-player that is looking out for the best interest of the company at large
  • Oversee quality control to verify that quality assurance activities are performed properly and generate improvement ideas. Lead testing with an Agile approach where requirements, programming, and testing are often done concurrently.Team should also have ability to effectively test with a waterfall or hybrid testing methodology.
  • Develop, coach, mentor, and manage team members. Create a collaborative team environment that builds a culture of highly engaged stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, MBA is preferred
  • Certification of quality control is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing direct reports, with 3 of those years managing direct reports as a Software Quality Assurance Manager or relevant role is required
  • Expertise in Software Quality standards and methodologies and experience modifying those methodologies to fit the needs of an organization within a healthcare setting is required
  • Experience leading software quality assurance of both custom software development and buy/configure application implementations is required
  • Understanding of Development methodologies and aligning testing methodologies to the SDLC is required
  • Experience with testing on multiple desktop and mobile platforms (Windows, Mac, Android, iOS) is required
  • Experience with issue management software (TFS, JIRA Microsoft Test Manager) and agile and waterfall methodologies is required
  • A working knowledge of organization policies, procedures and generally accepted Quality Assurance practices is required
  • SQL knowledge is required
  • Knowledge of various browsers and Emulators is preferred
  • Experience building and training a team is preferred
  • Ability to successfully organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment is required
  • Ability to deal with the pressure of strict time constraints is required
  • Communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other departments is required
  • Experience in healthcare is preferred
