Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

This individual must be able to operate all routine radiographic equipment in a safe and proficient manner.   They must abide by and enforce all compliance requirements and policies and perform these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values.  This position requires initiative, the ability to make independent judgments and a positive attitude.  The candidate must be able to produce high quality radiographs with a minimum of repeats.  Must be able to handle multiple room assignments and all different types of exams on a daily basis.  Must be able to communicate with physicians, patients, families, and ancillary hospital personnel. Will participate in performance improvement initiatives. Will assist with other activities as deemed necessary for the day-to-day operation of the department (i.e. clerical duties, inventory, stocking, light housekeeping duties, etc.).  May participate in the training and orientation of other employees. Position may require cross training in additional modalities as directed by the Director of Imaging.

Will recommend repairs and work process efficiencies within their area and/or the department.  Shares responsibility for the maintenance of efficient scheduling, patient flow and quality assurance, as well as having an alertness for fiscal soundness within the division

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Produces quality radiographs with minimal repeats in a timely and efficient manner. Selects proper technical factors for quality radiographs. Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis. Provides patient care with compassion.
  • Is responsible for procurement, storage, and routing of supplies and for room preparation.  May recommend at time the procurement and necessity for maintenance of equipment.
  • Documents patient exam information in Radiology Information System.  Documents film usage in Radiology Information System. Correctly inputs patient information into PACS system.
  • Facilitates procurement of necessary forms, consents and documentation to comply with hospital standards and obtains required signatures prior to examination. Obtains required signatures, consents, and releases. Authenticates all physician orders prior to exam.
  • Pursues advancing medical education through personal study (i.e. journal article review, formal education, conferences, etc.).
  • Will perform other related duties as required by Supervisor or Director of Imaging Services

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • Experience: High School graduate or equivalent. Minimum of two years experience after graduation in a major hospital setting
  • Education: Completes a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education bi-annually and remains "in compliance" with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology’s continuing medical education requirement (CME).
  • Licensure: Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved school and is registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiography, ARRT (R), current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association
  • Special Skills: Fully proficient in diagnostic radiography. Must possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED

  • Special Skills; Knowledge of angiography/interventional radiology, surgery, mammography is a plus
