Job Description:

The Revenue Assurance Representative is responsible for reading patient charts and ensuring that all appropriate charges are captured to maximize revenue. The Representative collaborates with department staff, clinicians, and leadership and/or other designated contacts to continually improve and maintain the efficiency and accuracy of the overall charging process.  Identifies, analyzes, and reconciles billing errors or omissions and safety events by reviewing documentation. Educates clinical staff on proper Medicare approved charting technique to reduce errors. Enters charges and completes chart/charge reviews daily.  Works closely with Bill Assurance Team to ensure all charge master codes are up to date and accurate.  The Representative works with the assigned department to ensure appropriate revenue capture process for all the new service offerings.  Collaborates with team to provide coverage for team members who are on leave status.  Maintains standard work instructions and stays current on cross-training for other assigned areas.


  • Reviews daily department census for completeness and accuracy.  Reads each patient chart for 100% accuracy and compliance to regulations. Follows up with appropriate personnel to obtain complete information.

  • Posts patient charges and any corrections in less than 3 business days including updates for chart accuracy by clinical staff.

  • Keep updated Standard Working Instructions for their assigned departments and cross - train to other departments as assigned.  

  • Performs clerical functions incidental to account maintenance activities.

  • Assists in maintaining manuals, logs and other required documentation as required.

  • Generates reports for review as required or requested by program director or others.

  • Recognizes inappropriate patient charge management, resolves issue/problem and completes written reports for department managers.

  • Integrates cost effective measures into practice: Manage costs while rendering quality department charge capture.

  • Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of charge capture issues affecting assigned department.



Education: High School Diploma/ GED Required

Training: Skills in office computer programs and proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook.
