Job Summary/Purpose:

Provides psychosocial services for oncology patients, couples and families to enhance coping and adjustment to illness during diagnosis and treatment.  

Job responsibilities:

  • Participates in individual, couples, and family counseling for oncology patients
  • Provides assessment and treatments for psychosocial needs of patients
  • Monitors, evaluates, and records patient progress according to measurable goals described in treatment plan of care.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary care rounds and clinical care team meetings
  • Assists in depression and distress screening
  • Participates in ethics committee
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives
  • Makes appropriate referrals

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in social work from an accredited University is required
  • Two (2) years of experience in a mental health environment
  • LMSW or LCSW is required
  • Grief Support experience is preferred
